Question by bippidibopiddi: What is the best way to start a family website?
I want to start a family website, with all my family's ancestry, but also as a way to keep in touch with extended family. Possibly even have it password protected. Also, cheap, free or minimal advertisements. Any sites to go through?
*Edit: I want to be able to really personalize it. I already have something through ancestry.com so I don't want it to be part of something else.

The World Wide Web was given to the world for this very sort of thing. You can buy very cheaply, direct from hosting companies your web address (URL) and then some hosting space.
Try www.icepalms.co.uk and ask for their 'Webvert' package.
http://www.familyinhistory.com allows you to upload your genealogy and it will create a full website for you. You can also customize it by creating additional webpages, add photos, stories, etc. but it gives you the functionality.
